Testimonial #1: Challenging and Stimulating

The teachers at Martingrove Montessori taught our two children (who are currently in the 6th and 8th grades at our local school) from 1998-2004. We were very pleased with their education at Martingrove Montessori as it was a wonderful way to begin school life.

The school is well organized and the teachers are well trained. Our boys made their transition from the third year elementary program to the fourth grade with confidence, self discipline and independence.

It has been a pleasure to have been associated with a school that promotes a a challenging and stimulating environment, a love of learning, but most of all, it provided our boys “a home away from home”.

Sincerely,
Annmarie and Jeff Stark

Testimonial #2: Compassion, Nurturing and Guidance

It is with great pleasure that I have been asked to write about our family’s experience at the Martingrove Montessori School. Our family consists of three children: Rachel, aged 8; Noah, aged 6; and Joshua, aged 3. Both Rachel and Noah attended and graduated from the Casa elementary program and Joshua, our youngest, is currently attending.

Some 5 years ago, my wife and I were referred to Martingrove Montessori School by a lawyer colleague of mine. As a consequence of our discussions, I arranged to attend and observe one of the Casa classes under the direction of Mary-Ann, one of the teachers. Upon my arrival, I was immediately struck by the compassion, nurturing and guidance that Mary-Ann demonstrated towards her students. The children were clearly excelling in a positive and co-operative learning environment while enjoying themselves at the same time. With confidence, I enrolled Rachel, who had Mary-Ann as a teacher for 4 years, and subsequently Noah who had Manny and Janet as teachers for 3 years. Rachel and Noah are currently attending a local public elementary school and both are doing exceptional in both their academic and social performance. I attribute their success in large measure to the instruction and guidance provided over the years by Martingrove Montessori.

Joshua commenced the Casa elementary program in September 2007. Unlike the other two, Joshua’s adjustment to his new environment was difficult at first, something not out of the ordinary I'm sure with three year olds. I was constantly impressed by the patience, positive attitude and genuine compassion demonstrated by Brenda, Susan and Mary-Ann. All three took an active interest in attempting to address and accommodate Joshua’s needs, including provision of a bowl of cheerios first thing in the morning which gradually seemed to settle him in his new environment. I am happy to say that at the time of this writing, he has successfully adapted to this wonderful school – and he no longer requires a bowl of cheerios to start his day!

I trust that anyone reading the foregoing would seriously consider enrolling their child at Martingrove Montessori School. It is a school which has established itself as an excellent academic institution with extraordinary instructors and assistants, exciting programs and extra-curricular activities and a nurturing environment fostering a respect for others and for the students themselves.

Sincerely,

Testimonial #3: The Best Kept Secret in Etobicoke

The Martingrove Montessori School was one of the many Montessori schools I visited when I decided that Montessori would be best educational choice for my oldest child. Its spacious, well-lit classrooms, along with its patient, nurturing staff, made me realize immediately that I did not have to look any further for the perfect school.

In September 2006, at 2.5 years old, my oldest started his first day at the Martingrove Montessori School and I could not be happier with the teachers, administrators and principle.

As my first child, he was shy and not easily willing to try new things with anyone other than me. Janet is his Casa teacher and she has led him to want to learn. He loves her and loves the school, his classmates and, most importantly, he is always looking to learn something new. At almost 5 years old now, he is constantly telling my husband and I, as well as his little 15 month old brother, what he is learning (currently the hundred board) and what a great teacher he has. Just yesterday Matteo said, "Janet is great. Did you know? I will never need to change schools. When Janet thinks I am ready, I will just keep learning new lessons and discovering new things."

I can truly see how much the school gives back to each child. It gives each child a true passion for learning in a welcoming setting, where there are no pressures to do more if the child is not yet ready, but there is always an underlying "let's just give it a try" attitude which guides the children to learning something new almost every day.

I look forward to seeing Matteo grow in his studies and soon enough I will be watching Gabriel take his first steps into the Martingrove Montessori School for the first time.

Sincerely,
Alie Ribeiro
